Nuance and Charamel include global distribution agreement

Charamel GmbH announces a worldwide distribution agreement with Nuance Communications, Inc announced.

Within this cooperation Nuance will start the worldwide distribution of CharActor and the authoring tool CharAT, a software of the Cologne based Charamel GmbH.

Charactor is a 3D real-time animation software for the integration of interactive avatars in different applications. These so-called digital assistants can be used in many different areas as a dialog front-end such as the personalization of web and intranet applications, kiosk/terminals, and e-learning solutions and in complex areas such as automotive, banking terminals and consumer electronics.

Through the distribution agreement Nuance expands its range and pursues the strategy, to offer an attractive visual fornt end by a digital assistant in addition to voice automation.

"Digital Assistants in conjunction with our speech synthesis and speech recognition software offer a variety of ways to improve communication and interaction between man and machine," said Arnd Weil, vice president and general manager at Nuance Communications. "Charamel with its software solution CharActor offers a particularly powerful software kit. This could be already provided and proven in worldwide projects of major manufacturers in the automotive industry."

Communication is now gaining between man and machine (computer systems). Automated processes are anonymous and impersonal. Digital assistants bring a social connection in the communication between man and machine, and thereby provide significant added value for the operation and management of applications. Every person has learned to communicate face to face. The operation of electronic devices and applications become more complex. Digital assistants will help with a more efficient operation, the learning of essential functions and a faster response.

"We see in the cooperation a better distribution in the global market and especially important new synergies in the further development of software solutions." said Norbert Helff, Managing Director of Charamel. "The market for digital assistants and software solutions in this environment is one of the topics for the future and offers a great potential for both companies in an ever increasing growing market."
